--- title: "Beverage-Air LEA: the compressor has run too long" description: "What LEA means on Beverage-Air LEA: the compressor has run too longs, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://commercialappliancerepair.center/error-codes/beverage-air-lea/" --- # Beverage-Air LEA: the compressor has run too long Beverage-Air's message table explains LEA as compressor run time too long. ## What LEA actually means. Beverage-Air's message table explains LEA as compressor run time too long. The Cross Temp alarm table calls it the leakage alarm and sets it off when the compressor runs continuously past a set limit. Either way, the system is not reaching temperature and switching off. Beverage-Air commercial appliance display What to do when LEA shows on the commercial appliance ### Kind of code Compressor and cooling The unit is running but not moving heat out of the box the way it should. On a walk-in that is often a condensing unit on the roof choking on cottonwood or grease, a condenser fan that stopped, an evaporator fan or defrost heater that failed so the coil iced solid, or a slow refrigerant leak; a reach-in adds a door gasket or heater that lets warm air in. Cleaning the condenser face with the power off and checking that the doors close are fair first steps; the refrigerant circuit, the compressor and every line stay with a technician. ### Usually leads to Walk-in cooler repair Walk-in coolers and freezers back to temperature: evaporators, fans, defrost, drain heaters, condensing units and doors. ### Shows up as Commercial Appliance Error Code on a Combi, Fryer, Dish Machine or Laundry Display A commercial appliance error code appears as letters or numbers on a combi, fryer, reach-in controller, dish machine or laundry machine display, or as a flashing light or an alarm tone. ### Make Beverage-Air When a Beverage-Air cabinet drifts warm mid-shift, the first minutes of the visit go to where the food went and what the temperature log recorded. ### Source Beverage-Air Horizon Series HR reach-in user manual, 809-144A Listed in the 'message displayed' table of Beverage-Air's Horizon HR reach-in, SPE prep table and Cross Temp manuals (2026 editions). ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Beverage-Air's own guidance for LEA on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Check that every door and drawer is closed. 02 Unplug and clean dust off the condenser if you can reach it safely; leave greasy coils to a technician. 03 Probe the food and log it. 04 If the doors were closed and LEA returns, book a visit. ### Still there? It usually turns into [walk-in cooler repair](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/services/walk-in-cooler-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do LEA does not prove a refrigerant leak, despite the alarm name in the Cross Temp table. It says the compressor could not stop, which a door, a dirty coil or a sealed-system problem can each cause. ## What you may notice with it. Check that every door and drawer is closed. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### What does LEA mean on a Beverage-Air prep table? The compressor has run too long without cycling off. Beverage-Air's manual has you check doors or drawers first. ### Is LEA on my Beverage-Air a refrigerant leak? Not necessarily. The control only knows the compressor ran too long; a technician confirms any leak. ### Can a dirty condenser cause LEA on a Beverage-Air? Yes. Beverage-Air calls a clean condenser critical to efficient operation, and a clogged one keeps the compressor running. --- **[Read on the site: Beverage-Air LEA: the compressor has run too long](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/error-codes/beverage-air-lea/)** **[Book a visit with CommercialApplianceRepair.center](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/schedule/)**
