E10, or ten short flashes after each long one, is Garland's code for an internal electronic failure. Depending on the cause the unit switches off at once or keeps running in a power reduction mode. There is no staff step for it beyond calling for service. Garland commercial appliance display · also shown as 10 short flashes after each long flash What to do when E10 shows on the commercial appliance ### Kind of code Controls and power The controller itself is reporting trouble, or the supply behind it is: a display with dead segments, a keypad that stopped responding after steam or degreaser got behind it, relays that stick, stored recipes or cycles that vanished overnight, a blown control fuse, or one leg of a three-phase feed missing so half the heat or the pump is gone. A full power cycle at the breaker, done as the manual describes, clears a passing glitch; a code that returns, a scorched smell or any sign of moisture behind the panel means the breaker stays off, and that is a visit. ### Usually leads to Commercial controls and board repair Controllers, touch panels, relays, contactors and interlocks tested, and replaced only when the evidence says so. ### Shows up as Commercial Appliance Error Code on a Combi, Fryer, Dish Machine or Laundry Display A commercial appliance error code appears as letters or numbers on a combi, fryer, reach-in controller, dish machine or laundry machine display, or as a flashing light or an alarm tone. ### Make Garland Garland equipment on a cooking line is usually looked at after close, when every burner is cold and the grates can come up without rushing a cook. ### Source Garland Induction Counter-Top Series dual base-line models GI-SH/DU/BA installation, operation and maintenance manual, part number 4532290 Rev 3 Garland counter-top induction cook-tops, woks and griddles (GI-SH/DU/BA, GI-BH/BA, GI-SH/BA, GI-SH/GR). Each step comes from Garland's own guidance for E10 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Switch the unit off at its power switch. 02 Move cooking to another zone or piece of equipment. 03 Note whether the unit shut off or kept running at low power. 04 Book a visit and give the code and what happened. ### Still there? Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do E10 is not caused by the pan or by the air around the unit, so cooling it down will not help. It also differs from E12, which is a heat warning that reduces power rather than a failure. ## What you may notice with it. The commercial appliance problem E10 tends to arrive with. Switch the unit off at its power switch. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Can I keep using a Garland that shows E10 at low power? For a short time, if it responds, but the electronics have reported a failure. Book the repair rather than running on it for days. ### Does E10 mean the Garland generator must be replaced? Not necessarily. A technician tests the boards and connections first; the generator is one possibility among several. ### Why did my Garland show E10 after a power outage? Voltage swings when power returns can upset electronics. If E10 remains after a restart, book a visit. --- **[Read on the site: Garland E10: an internal electronic failure](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/error-codes/garland-e10/)** **[Book a visit with CommercialApplianceRepair.center](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/schedule/)**
