The condenser on a Randell sidemount or FX unit sheds the heat pulled out of the cabinet. When it runs too hot, the Danfoss control shows CON. Randell's table lists three actions: clean the coil, look for anything blocking airflow, then contact service. Randell commercial appliance display · also shown as Con What to do when CON shows on the commercial appliance ### Kind of code Compressor and cooling The unit is running but not moving heat out of the box the way it should. On a walk-in that is often a condensing unit on the roof choking on cottonwood or grease, a condenser fan that stopped, an evaporator fan or defrost heater that failed so the coil iced solid, or a slow refrigerant leak; a reach-in adds a door gasket or heater that lets warm air in. Cleaning the condenser face with the power off and checking that the doors close are fair first steps; the refrigerant circuit, the compressor and every line stay with a technician. ### Usually leads to Walk-in cooler repair Walk-in coolers and freezers back to temperature: evaporators, fans, defrost, drain heaters, condensing units and doors. ### Shows up as Commercial Appliance Error Code on a Combi, Fryer, Dish Machine or Laundry Display A commercial appliance error code appears as letters or numbers on a combi, fryer, reach-in controller, dish machine or laundry machine display, or as a flashing light or an alarm tone. ### Make Randell Randell prep stations that lose temperature over the afternoon are usually visited just before the dinner setup, when the rail can be cleared. ### Source Randell 9200-290 sidemount series operator manual, PP MNL2501 rev. Each step comes from Randell's own guidance for CON on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Switch the unit off, then brush or vacuum the condenser coil in the direction of the fins. 02 Remove boxes, towels or anything else blocking the vents around the condensing unit. 03 Restore power and watch whether CON clears. 04 If CON returns or the coil is greasy, book a visit. ### Still there? It usually turns into [walk-in cooler repair](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/services/walk-in-cooler-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do CON is not a refrigerant leak and not a compressor failure, though ignoring it shortens the compressor's life. Randell calls condenser coils critical to the life of the compressor. ## What you may notice with it. The commercial appliance problems CON tends to arrive with. Switch the unit off, then brush or vacuum the condenser coil in the direction of the fins. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### How do I clean the condenser on a Randell? Randell recommends coil cleaner and/or a vacuum and brush, brushing in the direction of the fins. Leave greasy coils to a technician. ### Why does my Randell show CON next to the fryers? Hot, greasy air around the unit heats and coats the condenser. Keep the area around the vents clear and clean the coil more often. ### Can I keep using a Randell with CON on the display? For a short time, if food temperatures hold. Clean the coil as soon as you can. --- **[Read on the site: Randell CON: the condenser has hit its high temperature limit](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/error-codes/randell-con/)** **[Book a visit with CommercialApplianceRepair.center](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/schedule/)**
