On newer TurboChef controls, F12 is stored in the error log when the control software restarts itself. The manual ties it to an oven that goes into cool down, switches off or makes selections on its own, and it asks the owner to check that log for F12 entries and to note the Phoenix firmware version, because a firmware update may be the answer. TurboChef commercial appliance display · also shown as F12 What to do when F12 shows on the commercial appliance ### Kind of code Controls and power The controller itself is reporting trouble, or the supply behind it is: a display with dead segments, a keypad that stopped responding after steam or degreaser got behind it, relays that stick, stored recipes or cycles that vanished overnight, a blown control fuse, or one leg of a three-phase feed missing so half the heat or the pump is gone. A full power cycle at the breaker, done as the manual describes, clears a passing glitch; a code that returns, a scorched smell or any sign of moisture behind the panel means the breaker stays off, and that is a visit. ### Usually leads to Commercial controls and board repair Controllers, touch panels, relays, contactors and interlocks tested, and replaced only when the evidence says so. ### Shows up as Commercial Appliance Error Code on a Combi, Fryer, Dish Machine or Laundry Display A commercial appliance error code appears as letters or numbers on a combi, fryer, reach-in controller, dish machine or laundry machine display, or as a flashing light or an alarm tone. ### Make TurboChef TurboChef units cooking a café or quick-service menu are covered here; pizza service goes to our pizza oven site. ### Source TurboChef i3 and i5 rapid cook oven owner's manual (DOC-9427 Rev E, August 2023) Named in the troubleshooting tables of the i3 and i5 (DOC-9427), Sota i1 (DOC-1777) and ECO manuals. The Bullet manual lists an RTD issue for the same symptom instead of F12. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from TurboChef's own guidance for F12 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Wipe the touch display clean first; the manual also lists debris on the display as a cause of phantom selections. 02 Open the error log in the Info or settings screens and see whether F12 entries line up with the times the oven acted up. 03 Write down the Phoenix firmware version shown on the same screens. 04 Book a visit with that version number and the F12 dates, so the technician can bring the right update or check the board and power supply. ### Still there? Wipe the touch display clean first; the manual also lists debris on the display as a cause of phantom selections. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why is my TurboChef turning itself off between orders? If the error log shows F12 at those times, the control software is restarting. Note the firmware version and book a visit; an update is often the fix. ### Where do I find F12 on a TurboChef i3? Open the Info mode screens and choose the log of stored codes, which lists each code with a time stamp. ### Can a dirty screen cause the same symptom as F12 on a TurboChef? Yes. Grease or debris on the display can register as touches, so clean the screen before blaming the firmware. --- **[Read on the site: TurboChef F12: the control restarted its own firmware](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/error-codes/turbochef-f12/)** **[Book a visit with CommercialApplianceRepair.center](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/schedule/)**
