--- title: "UniMac Ed04: the motor did not reach speed at start" description: "What Ed04 means on UniMac Ed04: the motor did not reach speed at starts, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://commercialappliancerepair.center/error-codes/unimac-ed04/" --- # UniMac Ed04: the motor did not reach speed at start Ed04 comes from the motor drive on 45 and 65 lb UniMac extractors. ## What Ed04 actually means. Ed04 comes from the motor drive on 45 and 65 lb UniMac extractors. UniMac's steps are to power down, check the motor mounting, look for obstructions and try again, all of which a technician does with the machine open. UniMac commercial appliance display · also shown as Ed 04 What to do when Ed04 shows on the commercial appliance ### Kind of code Motors and drives Something that should turn is not turning, or not at the speed the controller expects. A washer-extractor's drive or its inverter may stop the spin when the load is out of balance or a bearing drags, a tumbler's belt may slip so the drum barely moves, a convection or combi fan may slow on worn bearings and bake unevenly, and a dish machine's wash pump may hum without spraying. Redistributing a load, confirming the door is latched and running the machine's own test cycle are fair; a drum, a belt or a motor is a visit, and nobody reaches into a drum that could still move. ### Usually leads to Commercial laundry machine repair Coin, card and on-premise laundry machines and tumblers: door locks, bearings, inverters, burners and payment hardware. ### Shows up as Commercial Appliance Error Code on a Combi, Fryer, Dish Machine or Laundry Display A commercial appliance error code appears as letters or numbers on a combi, fryer, reach-in controller, dish machine or laundry machine display, or as a flashing light or an alarm tone. ### Make UniMac UniMac equipment in a facility laundry room is usually serviced after the heaviest morning loads are out. ### Source UniMac UW-series washer-extractor control manual F8552201R2 (Alliance Laundry Systems, 2017) UniMac UW-series hardmount extractors of 45 to 130 lb (UWH, UWL, UWN and UWU models) with the keypad control in manual F8552201. Each step comes from UniMac's own guidance for Ed04 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Switch the extractor off and keep it off until it is checked. 02 Make sure nothing outside the machine is pressing on it or blocking the rear. 03 Book a visit; motor mounting and anything jammed in the cylinder are checked by a technician. ### Still there? Switch the extractor off and keep it off until it is checked. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Which UniMac extractors show Ed04? The Ed codes apply to the 45 and 65 lb models in this manual, which carry that motor drive. ### Can a stuck item cause Ed04 on a UniMac? Yes. Something wedged between the cylinder and the tub can stop the motor reaching speed. ### Will Ed04 clear itself on a UniMac? Powering down clears the display, but it will return until the cause is found. --- **[Read on the site: UniMac Ed04: the motor did not reach speed at start](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/error-codes/unimac-ed04/)** **[Book a visit with CommercialApplianceRepair.center](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/schedule/)**
