The ChefsCombi sorts its messages by color, and E10 is one of the information messages that do not stop a cook. It reports scale in the steam generator and asks for a descale as soon as possible. If the message stays after descaling, Vulcan asks for the service provider. Vulcan commercial appliance display What to do when E10 shows on the commercial appliance ### Kind of code Water, fill and drain Water is not arriving, not reaching its level, not heating or not leaving on time. A dish machine may be short of fill because a supply valve is half closed or its line strainer is clogged, it may drain slowly through a scrap basket full of debris, or its booster may be too scaled to heat the rinse; a combi's steam generator may be scaled or its water treatment exhausted; a washer-extractor may time out on a slow drain. Opening the supply valve, cleaning strainers with the unit off and checking the drain line are fair; a pump, a fill valve, a heater or a leak near wiring is a visit. ### Usually leads to Dish machine repair Undercounter, door-type and conveyor dish machines: tank heaters, boosters, wash pumps, fill and drain valves. ### Shows up as Commercial Appliance Error Code on a Combi, Fryer, Dish Machine or Laundry Display A commercial appliance error code appears as letters or numbers on a combi, fryer, reach-in controller, dish machine or laundry machine display, or as a flashing light or an alarm tone. ### Make Vulcan Vulcan equipment is often seen after close, once the line has been scraped down and every burner has cooled. ### Source Vulcan ChefsCombi combi ovens operating manual F49613 (08/2026) Vulcan ChefsCombi gas and electric combi ovens, half and full size, 6 and 10 levels (operating manual F49613). These are green or yellow information messages; orange and red messages need the service provider. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Vulcan's own guidance for E10 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Finish the current cook; the message does not stop it. 02 Run the descaling procedure from the ChefsCombi manual as soon as the oven is free. 03 Use only cleaning and descaling products the manual approves for this oven. 04 Book a visit if E10 stays after descaling, and ask about water treatment for the supply. ### Still there? It usually turns into [dish machine repair](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/services/dish-machine-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do E10 is not a failure of the steam generator itself; it is an early warning. It is also separate from E90 and E91, which report the steam generator failing to deliver during cooking or cleaning. ## What you may notice with it. Finish the current cook; the message does not stop it. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Can I keep cooking with E10 on a Vulcan ChefsCombi? Yes, Vulcan says cooking continues. Schedule the descale for the next quiet window. ### How often will my ChefsCombi show E10? That depends on the hardness of your water and how much steam you use. Frequent E10s point to a water supply that needs treatment. ### Who clears E10 if descaling does not work on a Vulcan? The service provider. A message that survives a descale suggests scale the cycle could not reach or a sensor that needs checking. --- **[Read on the site: Vulcan E10: the ChefsCombi steam generator is scaling](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/error-codes/vulcan-e10/)** **[Book a visit with CommercialApplianceRepair.center](https://commercialappliancerepair.center/schedule/)**
