A commercial condensing unit mounted on top of a walk-in cooler in a restaurant back room, its condenser fan guard and dusty coil face in view, insulated copper lines running down into the walk-in cooler's roof panel, nobody near the unit.

What Con
actually means.

The condenser sheds the heat taken out of the cabinet. On the Cross Temp control, Con blinks when its temperature is outside the allowed band. A dusty coil or blocked grille is the usual cause of a hot condenser; a very cold room can push it the other way.

What to do when Con shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Beverage-Air's own guidance for Con on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Unplug the unit and remove the front panel as the Cross Temp manual shows.

02

Brush the coil up and down with the fins and vacuum away the dust, without disturbing the controller wires.

03

Do not add an air filter; Beverage-Air says filters restrict cooling air.

04

If Con returns after cleaning or the coil is greasy, book a visit.

What not to do

Con is not a compressor failure. It is also not LEA, although a hot condenser can lead to LEA if left alone.

Where Con usually leads

Questions
about Con.

Can I clear Con myself?
Unplug the unit and remove the front panel as the Cross Temp manual shows. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
How do I clean the condenser on a Beverage-Air Cross Temp?
Unplug it, remove the two screws at the top corners of the front panel, lift the panel off and brush the coil up and down.
Should I put a filter on my Beverage-Air condenser?
No. Beverage-Air says air filters restrict the cooling air.
Why does my Beverage-Air show Con in winter?
The alarm covers a condenser that is too cold as well as too hot, which a very cold room can cause.

Still showing Con?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
