A row of three stainless steel reach-in cabinets with solid doors along the wall of a working restaurant kitchen, the reach-ins clearly the subject, one door open showing sheet pans of prepped vegetables on wire shelves, a walk-in cooler door with a clear strip curtain visible at the far end, a cook seen only from behind in a white jacket passing in the soft background, bright even kitchen light.

Beverage-Air commercial appliances,
specifically.

Beverage-Air builds Horizon, P Series, RI, Vista and Cross Temp reach-ins, pizza and sandwich prep tables and salad bars, worktops, undercounters, chef bases, bar and back bar equipment, milk coolers, merchandisers, deli cases, blast chillers and Sure-Sense thawing cabinets. Its manuals keep the owner's side short: most of the time the display shows only the cabinet temperature, and any other message means something outside normal running.

What is particular
to Beverage-Air.

We work on Beverage-Air top- and bottom-mount reach-ins, Cross Temp units, pizza and sandwich prep tables, salad bars, worktops, undercounters, chef bases, back bars, bottle coolers, direct draws, milk coolers, merchandisers, deli cases, blast chillers and thawing cabinets.

A cabinet that changes roles

The Cross Temp series can be set anywhere from a 40°F cooler to a -15°F low-temperature cabinet from the control alone. Beverage-Air asks that all product come out before the switch and go back only once the new temperature is reached.

A short message table

Beverage-Air's manuals list just a handful of messages, dEF, Hi, dOr, LEA and E01 to E04, each with what to do. Anything else on the display is worth a photo before you book.

LEDs that show acknowledgment

On the control, the alarm LED stays lit while an alarm is present and flashes once it has been silenced. That tells the next shift whether someone already saw the alarm.

No filters on the condenser

Beverage-Air says air filters are not recommended on its condensers because they restrict cooling air, and leaves greasy coils to a technician. Dusty coils can be brushed up and down with the fins after unplugging.

Parts

Beverage-Air posts installation and operation manuals for each series on its own site and runs parts and technical support pages. Sensors and controls are matched to the model and series before ordering.

Repair or replace

A Beverage-Air cabinet in good physical shape is worth repairing when a sensor, fan, door switch or control fails. A compressor failure on an older unit, especially one whose doors and gaskets are worn, is when we compare repair with a new cabinet.

Questions about
Beverage-Air commercial appliances.

Can I switch a Beverage-Air Cross Temp with food inside?
Beverage-Air says no: remove all product first and reload only once the cabinet has reached the new temperature.
How do I know a Beverage-Air alarm was silenced?
The alarm LED is steady while the alarm is present and flashes once it has been silenced.
Should I fit a filter to my Beverage-Air condenser?
No. Beverage-Air says air filters restrict the flow of cooling air.
Why did my Beverage-Air control switch off when I pressed defrost?
Holding the defrost button too long shuts the controller off. A quick press starts a manual defrost.
