A stainless sandwich prep table on a restaurant line, the prep table's lid raised over a row of covered food pans, a probe thermometer standing in one pan, nobody at the table.

What Hi
actually means.

Hi is raised when the air in a Beverage-Air cabinet stays above the high alarm limit for longer than its delay. The display blinks Hi along with the highest temperature reached, and the buzzer sounds if it is set to. Beverage-Air puts the doors and drawers first in its table.

What to do when Hi shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Beverage-Air's own guidance for Hi on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Shut every door and drawer and check that the gaskets meet the cabinet all the way round.

02

Probe the food, log it and move anything above 41°F to a working unit.

03

Press a key to silence the buzzer; the alarm LED flashes to show it was acknowledged.

04

If Hi returns with doors closed, book a visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into reach-in and prep table repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

Hi reports a warm cabinet, not its cause. It is different from LEA, which says the compressor has been running too long without reaching temperature.

Where Hi usually leads

Reach-in and prep table repair.

Reach-in, pass-through or prep table gasket, hinge, fan motor, thermostat or controller, defrost heater, leak repair or compressor · moderate.

Listed in the 'message displayed' table of Beverage-Air's Horizon HR reach-in, SPE prep table and Cross Temp manuals (2026 editions). The Cross Temp manual adds that the display blinks Hi with the highest temperature reached.

Questions
about Hi.

Can I clear Hi myself?
Shut every door and drawer and check that the gaskets meet the cabinet all the way round. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What should I check first when my Beverage-Air shows Hi?
Beverage-Air's table says to confirm doors and drawers are closed. On a prep table, check the lid and the pans as well.
How do I know the Beverage-Air alarm was silenced?
The alarm LED stays lit while the alarm is present and flashes once it has been silenced.
Why does my Beverage-Air blink a number with Hi?
On the Cross Temp control the display blinks Hi together with the highest temperature reached, which is worth writing on your log.

Still showing Hi?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
