A commercial condensing unit mounted on top of a walk-in cooler in a restaurant back room, its condenser fan guard and dusty coil face in view, insulated copper lines running down into the walk-in cooler's roof panel, nobody near the unit.

What Con
actually means.

True lists Con as the condenser alarm on its Danfoss ERC controls. The condenser is the coil that sheds heat, usually behind the front grille or under the unit, and dust or grease on it is the most common reason it runs hot. True's own guide ties a dirty condenser to frozen evaporator coils and to system failure.

What to do when Con shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from True Residential's own guidance for Con on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Unplug the unit, then look at the condenser fins for a mat of dust or grease.

02

Brush or vacuum loose dust off the fins in the direction they run; leave greasy coils to a technician.

03

Clear boxes and bags away from the grille so air can move, then plug the unit back in.

04

If Con returns within a day or two of cleaning, book a visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into walk-in cooler repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

Con is not a refrigerant leak alarm; that is LEA. It also does not mean the compressor has failed, although a condenser left dirty long enough shortens its life.

Where Con usually leads

Walk-in cooler repair.

Walk-in evaporator fan, defrost heater or drain line heater, door gasket, frame heater, expansion valve, leak repair, compressor or condensing unit · moderate to highest.

Questions
about Con.

Can I clear Con myself?
Unplug the unit, then look at the condenser fins for a mat of dust or grease. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
How often should the condenser on a True be cleaned?
True points to its installation manual for the schedule. In a kitchen with fryers or flour in the air, monthly checks are sensible.
Why does my True show Con in summer only?
A hot kitchen and a partly dirty coil together push the condenser past its limit. Cleaning the coil and giving the unit room to breathe usually cures a seasonal Con.
Can I keep using a True with Con on the display?
Usually yes for a short time, but watch the food temperature. A condenser that cannot shed heat makes the cabinet warm and works the compressor hard.

Back to your everyday

Still showing Con?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
