What FAN FAULT
actually means.

The LongWave monitors its cooling fan through a feedback signal. If the fan breaks or the feedback is lost, the screen names the fan and a red LED glows at the right-hand edge of the compartment. The oven keeps cooking unless the compartment then gets too hot, and the manual mentions a fan current calibration under the general settings.

What to do when FAN FAULT shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Middleby Marshall's own guidance for FAN FAULT on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Keep cooking only while you watch for a high temperature message, which the oven would show next.

02

Clean the cooling fan filter and make sure the fan intake and exhaust are clear.

03

If your manager login allows it, run the fan current calibration in general settings as the manual suggests.

04

Book a visit if the red LED and the message stay after calibration.

It usually turns into commercial laundry machine repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

This message does not stop the oven by itself, unlike the heat and belt alarms. It is also not the HIGH TEMP CHECK FANS message, which reports the heat that a failed fan eventually causes.

What you may
notice with it.

The commercial appliance problem FAN FAULT tends to arrive with. Answer these at the commercial appliance before anyone is booked.

Questions
about FAN FAULT.

Can I clear FAN FAULT myself?
Keep cooking only while you watch for a high temperature message, which the oven would show next. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my LongWave keep baking with the red fan LED on?
The manual lets it continue until the control compartment gets too hot. Use that time to clean the filter and arrange a visit.
What is fan current calibration on a Middleby Marshall LongWave?
A setting under general settings that teaches the control the normal current of the fan. It can clear a false alarm after a fan is replaced.
Is the LongWave red LED the same as a heating problem?
No. It concerns the electronics cooling fan only; cooking zones have their own messages.

Still showing FAN FAULT?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
