What F9
actually means.

In Dexter's 2019 reference, F9 means the drum did not stop in time. The door stays locked until the drum has stopped. Braking resistors, their wiring and the drive's setup are Dexter's list of suspects.

Kind of codeMotors and drives

Something that should turn is not turning, or not at the speed the controller expects. A washer-extractor's drive or its inverter may stop the spin when the load is out of balance or a bearing drags, a tumbler's belt may slip so the drum barely moves, a convection or combi fan may slow on worn bearings and bake unevenly, and a dish machine's wash pump may hum without spraying. Redistributing a load, confirming the door is latched and running the machine's own test cycle are fair; a drum, a belt or a motor is a visit, and nobody reaches into a drum that could still move.

What not to do

F9 is not a slow drain or a balance issue. Older Dexter A-Series machines used F9 for a drum that did not reach spin speed, so check which series your machine is before comparing notes.

about F9.

Can I clear F9 myself?
Keep the door closed and let the drum stop on its own. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why is my Dexter door locked after F9?
Dexter keeps the door locked until the drum has stopped moving, which is what the error is about.
Is F9 on a Dexter dangerous?

Why does F9 mean different things on old and new Dexter machines?
The A-Series and T-Series references assign F9 differently, so the series matters.

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
