What E03
actually means.

The CTP watches its convection fan with a Hall effect sensor. If the fan has not turned within 60 seconds of being told to run, the display calls out E03. A locked motor or fan wheel, a motor control that is flashing its own code, or a sensor that misses rotation are the causes listed.

What to do when E03 shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Alto-Shaam's own guidance for E03 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Acknowledge E03 with Start and remove the food, since the oven cannot bake evenly without its fan.

02

With the oven off and cool, look through the door for a pan, foil or rack wedged against the fan guard.

03

With nothing blocking it, book a visit; the motor, its control or the sensor has to be tested.

What not to do

E03 is the upper or only fan; roll-in models report the lower fan separately as E04. It also differs from E53, which is the fan motor overheating after it failed to spin.

Questions
about E03.

Can I clear E03 myself?
Acknowledge E03 with Start and remove the food, since the oven cannot bake evenly without its fan. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What stops the fan on an Alto-Shaam combi and brings up E03?
The manual lists a locked motor or fan wheel, a motor control with its own error, and a rotation sensor that does not register. Something loose inside the cabinet is worth checking first.
Is E03 on an Alto-Shaam the same as E04?
They describe the same event on different fans. E03 is the table-top or upper fan and E04 is the lower fan on roll-in models.
Can I bake with E03 showing on my Alto-Shaam?
No. Without the convection fan, heat does not move through the cabinet and food cooks unevenly or not at all.

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
