The circulation pump pushes wash water through the spray arms in every cycle. When the control sees the pump not behaving as expected, it stops the program, sounds the alarm and shows F78. A single restart is allowed; a repeat means a technical problem.

Something that should turn is not turning, or not at the speed the controller expects. A washer-extractor's drive or its inverter may stop the spin when the load is out of balance or a bearing drags, a tumbler's belt may slip so the drum barely moves, a convection or combi fan may slow on worn bearings and bake unevenly, and a dish machine's wash pump may hum without spraying. Redistributing a load, confirming the door is latched and running the machine's own test cycle are fair; a drum, a belt or a motor is a visit, and nobody reaches into a drum that could still move.
