What E03
actually means.

An induction generator makes heat of its own, and Garland cools it with a fan that pulls air through a filter. When the air path is blocked or the fan stops, the heat sink overheats and the unit switches off, showing E03 or three short flashes after each long one.

What to do when E03 shows on the commercial appliance

Kind of codeMotors and drives

Something that should turn is not turning, or not at the speed the controller expects. A washer-extractor's drive or its inverter may stop the spin when the load is out of balance or a bearing drags, a tumbler's belt may slip so the drum barely moves, a convection or combi fan may slow on worn bearings and bake unevenly, and a dish machine's wash pump may hum without spraying. Redistributing a load, confirming the door is latched and running the machine's own test cycle are fair; a drum, a belt or a motor is a visit, and nobody reaches into a drum that could still move.

Shows up asCommercial Appliance Error Code on a Combi, Fryer, Dish Machine or Laundry Display

A commercial appliance error code appears as letters or numbers on a combi, fryer, reach-in controller, dish machine or laundry machine display, or as a flashing light or an alarm tone.

Garland equipment on a cooking line is usually looked at after close, when every burner is cold and the grates can come up without rushing a cook.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Garland's own guidance for E03 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Switch the unit off and let it cool down.

02

Clear anything blocking the air vents, including towels, boxes or grease buildup.

03

Take out the air filter and clean it as the manual describes.

04

Book a visit if E03 returns with clear vents and a clean filter, since the fan may have failed.

What not to do

E03 is not a hot pan or cook zone; that is E04. It concerns the electronics' own cooling, which depends on the air filter far more than on what is being cooked.

Questions
about E03.

Can I clear E03 myself?
Switch the unit off and let it cool down. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
How often should a Garland induction filter be cleaned?
Garland names filter cleaning in its action for E03, E04 and E06, so make it part of the regular cleaning schedule. A repeat E03 is often the first sign the filter was missed.
Why does my Garland show E03 next to the fryer?
Hot, greasy air from a neighboring fryer clogs the filter and warms the intake. Moving the unit or shielding it can stop repeat E03s.
Can I run a Garland induction unit without its air filter?
No. The filter keeps grease off the fan and heat sink; running without it trades one E03 for a larger repair.

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
