What MC1_COMM_LOST
actually means.

Each conveyor belt on a CTX infrared oven has its own motor control, and the front one is called MC1. The touch screen checks in with it constantly; after 5 seconds of silence the oven beeps and shows MC1_COMM_LOST. Without that link the screen cannot confirm the front belt speed, and belt speed is the cook time on a conveyor oven.

Kind of codeMotors and drives

Something that should turn is not turning, or not at the speed the controller expects. A washer-extractor's drive or its inverter may stop the spin when the load is out of balance or a bearing drags, a tumbler's belt may slip so the drum barely moves, a convection or combi fan may slow on worn bearings and bake unevenly, and a dish machine's wash pump may hum without spraying. Redistributing a load, confirming the door is latched and running the machine's own test cycle are fair; a drum, a belt or a motor is a visit, and nobody reaches into a drum that could still move.

A commercial appliance error code appears as letters or numbers on a combi, fryer, reach-in controller, dish machine or laundry machine display, or as a flashing light or an alarm tone.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Middleby Marshall's own guidance for MC1_COMM_LOST on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Acknowledge the message on the screen and watch the front belt to see whether it is still moving at the set time.

02

Power the oven off and back on once to restart the motor control.

03

Stop sending product down the front lane if the belt has slowed or stopped, since items would sit in the heat too long.

04

If MC1_COMM_LOST returns, book a visit so the motor control, its cable and its power can be tested.

Questions
about MC1_COMM_LOST.

Can I clear MC1_COMM_LOST myself?
Acknowledge the message on the screen and watch the front belt to see whether it is still moving at the set time. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Which belt is MC1 on a Middleby Marshall CTX oven?
MC1 is the front motor control. On two-belt ovens the rear belt is run by MC2, which reports its own communication message.
Will the CTX front belt keep running with MC1_COMM_LOST showing?
It may, but the screen can no longer confirm its speed. Watch the product coming out and stop loading the lane if the timing looks wrong.
Is MC1_COMM_LOST a CTX motor failure?
Not always. The message means the conversation stopped; the motor, its control board, the cable or the supply feeding it can each be the reason.

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
