What LOW TEMP
actually means.

The RTW tortilla warmers let you check drum temperature with the SET/TEMP button during preheat or normal running. If the drum is still under 100°F when you check, the display flashes LOW and TEMP instead of a number.

What to do when LOW TEMP shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Star's own guidance for LOW TEMP on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

If the unit has just been switched on, let the preheat run; LOW TEMP is expected early in the warm-up.

02

Look for the small dot at the lower right of the screen, which Star uses to show the heaters are on.

03

If LOW TEMP still shows well after preheat, or the heater dot never lights, book a visit for the heaters and control.

What not to do

LOW TEMP is a temperature reading below a threshold, not a stored alarm. It is different from PREHT, which is the preheat message the warmer shows on its own.

Questions
about LOW TEMP.

Can I clear LOW TEMP myself?
If the unit has just been switched on, let the preheat run; LOW TEMP is expected early in the warm-up. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Star tortilla warmer say LOW TEMP right after switching on?
The drum starts cold. Until it passes 100°F a temperature check shows LOW TEMP rather than a number, which is normal during preheat.
How do I see the real drum temperature on a Star RTW?
Press SET/TEMP during preheat or TORT mode. Once the drum is over 100°F, the display shows the reading.
What if the heater dot is on but LOW TEMP never clears?
The control is calling for heat but the drum is not warming. That points to a heater or sensor, which needs a technician.

Still showing LOW TEMP?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
