A stainless sandwich prep table on a restaurant line, the prep table's lid raised over a row of covered food pans, a probe thermometer standing in one pan, nobody at the table.

What Hi
actually means.

Randell's 9200 sidemount units and FX drawers use a Danfoss control, and Hi is its high temperature alarm. Randell's table pairs it with two actions: inspect the door and drawer sealing, then contact service. On a sandwich or pizza rail, open covers and empty pan spaces are the everyday reasons it trips.

What to do when Hi shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Randell's own guidance for Hi on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Probe the pans in the rail and the product in the base, and log both readings.

02

Close the hooded covers, fill every pan space, and check door and drawer gaskets for gaps.

03

Move anything above 41°F to a unit that is holding and follow your health code.

04

If Hi stays after the covers and doors are sorted, book a visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into reach-in and prep table repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

Hi does not identify a failed part. On a Randell prep station it is often a rail left open in a hot kitchen, which Randell warns about for rooms above 80°F.

Where Hi usually leads

Reach-in and prep table repair.

Reach-in, pass-through or prep table gasket, hinge, fan motor, thermostat or controller, defrost heater, leak repair or compressor · moderate.

Questions
about Hi.

Can I clear Hi myself?
Probe the pans in the rail and the product in the base, and log both readings. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Randell prep table show Hi during lunch?
Open covers and a hot line warm the rail quickly. Randell asks for the covers closed between rushes and every pan in place, with empty ones holding an inch or two of water.
What should I check first when a Randell shows Hi?
Randell's own table says to inspect door and drawer sealing first. A torn gasket or a drawer that does not close fully is common on busy lines.
Is Hi on my Randell an emergency?
If food has been above 41°F, yes: move it before anything else and log what you did.

Back to your everyday

Still showing Hi?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
