actually means.

E dr appears when the drain error check is switched on and the tub has not emptied after the drain step's time limit. The control then stops every output and sounds its error tone for 15 seconds, leaving a load of wet laundry inside.

Water is not arriving, not reaching its level, not heating or not leaving on time. A dish machine may be short of fill because a supply valve is half closed or its line strainer is clogged, it may drain slowly through a scrap basket full of debris, or its booster may be too scaled to heat the rinse; a combi's steam generator may be scaled or its water treatment exhausted; a washer-extractor may time out on a slow drain. The drain has to work first. Once the tub is empty, cycling power clears the display, but the code will come back on the next load if the drain path is still slow.

A shared drain trough or floor drain that backs up will slow every machine emptying into it. Clear the building drain before anyone opens a cabinet.
Can a sock stop a Speed Queen from draining?
Small items can reach the drain path on front-loads and slow it down. Removing them means opening the machine, which is a job for the visit.
