What E33
actually means.

FilterQuick fryers drain and return oil through motor-driven valves that report their position to the controller. If the drain valve does not report closed, the FQ4000 logs E33 and blocks automatic filtration and top off so oil is not pumped into a vat that may be draining. A stuck valve, a failed actuator or the valve interface board are the usual suspects.

What to do when E33 shows on the commercial appliance

Kind of codeWater, fill and drain

Water is not arriving, not reaching its level, not heating or not leaving on time. A dish machine may be short of fill because a supply valve is half closed or its line strainer is clogged, it may drain slowly through a scrap basket full of debris, or its booster may be too scaled to heat the rinse; a combi's steam generator may be scaled or its water treatment exhausted; a washer-extractor may time out on a slow drain. Opening the supply valve, cleaning strainers with the unit off and checking the drain line are fair; a pump, a fill valve, a heater or a leak near wiring is a visit.

Shows up asCommercial Appliance Error Code on a Combi, Fryer, Dish Machine or Laundry Display

A commercial appliance error code appears as letters or numbers on a combi, fryer, reach-in controller, dish machine or laundry machine display, or as a flashing light or an alarm tone.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Frymaster's own guidance for E33 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Do not start another filter cycle; let the controller keep filtration disabled.

02

Check the filter pan area for oil that has leaked into the pan and keep the floor clear of drips so nobody slips.

03

Have the drain valve actuator and the valve interface board checked on a visit before the vat is refilled and heated.

What not to do

E33 is not a clogged drain: when oil simply will not flow out during filtration, the FQ4000 logs E42 instead. Its twin, E32, is the same valve failing to confirm it opened.

Questions
about E33.

Can I clear E33 myself?
Do not start another filter cycle; let the controller keep filtration disabled. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can I still cook on a Frymaster showing E33?
Only if the controller allows it and the oil is at a normal level; filtration and top off stay disabled. Many kitchens stop that vat anyway, since a drain valve that may be partly open can let hot oil into the pan.
What is the difference between E32 and E33 on a Frymaster?
E32 means the drain valve failed to confirm it opened, E33 that it failed to confirm it closed. Both come from the same valve and actuator.
Why did my Frymaster turn off auto top off after E33?
Pumping fresh oil into a vat whose drain may be open would send oil into the filter pan or onto the floor, so the controller shuts both functions off together.

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
