What uLi
actually means.

Delfield's controls report low line voltage when it falls below 96 volts. A compressor started on low voltage draws more current and runs hot. The cause is almost always in the building supply or in how the unit is plugged in.

What to do when uLi shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Delfield's own guidance for uLi on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Make sure the unit is on its own dedicated outlet, with no extension cord.

02

Note whether other equipment on the circuit starts at the same time the message appears.

03

Have an electrician measure the circuit, then book a visit if the unit still shows uLi on good voltage.

It usually turns into commercial controls and board repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

uLi is not a failed control. It has a high-voltage twin, uHi, set at 140 volts.

Questions
about uLi.

Can I clear uLi myself?
Make sure the unit is on its own dedicated outlet, with no extension cord. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Delfield show uLi when the fryers heat up?
Heavy loads starting on shared wiring can pull the voltage down. A dedicated circuit for the cold equipment is the usual answer.
Is uLi the same as uLo on a Delfield?
Yes. The reach-in manual spells it uLi and the prep table manual uLo; both mean line voltage under 96 volts.
Can I use an extension cord for my Delfield?
Delfield calls for a dedicated circuit sized for the unit, and a long cord drops voltage. Plug it straight into the wall.

Still showing uLi?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
