What E01
actually means.

Garland induction zones only heat cookware they can couple with. When the pan is unsuitable, the display shows E01, or the indicator lamp gives one short flash after each long one. If the pan is known to work, the same code points to internal wiring or the coil connection, and the unit switches off at once.

What to do when E01 shows on the commercial appliance

Kind of codeControls and power

The controller itself is reporting trouble, or the supply behind it is: a display with dead segments, a keypad that stopped responding after steam or degreaser got behind it, relays that stick, stored recipes or cycles that vanished overnight, a blown control fuse, or one leg of a three-phase feed missing so half the heat or the pump is gone. A full power cycle at the breaker, done as the manual describes, clears a passing glitch; a code that returns, a scorched smell or any sign of moisture behind the panel means the breaker stays off, and that is a visit.

Controllers, touch panels, relays, contactors and interlocks tested, and replaced only when the evidence says so.

A commercial appliance error code appears as letters or numbers on a combi, fryer, reach-in controller, dish machine or laundry machine display, or as a flashing light or an alarm tone.

Garland equipment on a cooking line is usually looked at after close, when every burner is cold and the grates can come up without rushing a cook.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Garland's own guidance for E01 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Lift the pan and check that it is made for induction; a magnet should hold firmly to its base.

02

Try a known good induction pan centered on the zone.

03

If E01 stays with a suitable pan, switch the unit off at its power switch.

04

Book a visit so the coil connection and wiring can be checked.

What not to do

E01 is not an overheating code; the unit has not got hot. It is also different from E02, which adds an overcurrent in the coil to the pan question.

What you may
notice with it.

The commercial appliance problem E01 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the commercial appliance before anyone is booked.

Questions
about E01.

Can I clear E01 myself?
Lift the pan and check that it is made for induction; a magnet should hold firmly to its base. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Which pans work on a Garland induction hob?
Pans with a flat, magnetic base made for induction. Aluminum, copper and thin or warped pans are the common cause of E01.
Why does my Garland show E01 with our usual pan?
If a pan that always worked now triggers E01, the pan base may have warped, or the coil connection has a problem. Try a second pan before booking.
Does E01 on a Garland mean the hob is broken?
Not usually. Most E01s end with a different pan; only an E01 with good cookware needs a technician.

Still showing E01?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
