What E02
actually means.

The CTP's control electronics are cooled by a small fan that draws in room air. E02 is called out once the relay board temperature goes above 176°F. The manual lists a failed cooling fan or a blocked intake as the causes.

What to do when E02 shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Alto-Shaam's own guidance for E02 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Acknowledge the code with Start and switch the oven off so the electronics can cool.

02

Clear boxes, towels or pans stacked against the oven's sides and make sure nearby fryers or broilers are not venting onto it.

03

Book a visit if E02 comes back, since the cooling fan may have stopped.

What not to do

E02 is the high stage of a two-step warning; E108 is the earlier one, called out between 140°F and 176°F. Neither code is about food or cabinet temperature.

Questions
about E02.

Can I clear E02 myself?
Acknowledge the code with Start and switch the oven off so the electronics can cool. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What is the difference between E02 and E108 on an Alto-Shaam?
Both warn that the control board is hot. E108 appears first, between 140°F and 176°F; E02 is the higher step above 176°F.
Why does my Alto-Shaam CTP throw E02 in summer?
A hot kitchen leaves the cooling fan less margin, and anything blocking the intake makes it worse. If the fan cannot be heard running, it needs a technician.
Can I keep using an Alto-Shaam combi with E02?
Let it cool and try again once. A second E02 means the oven should sit idle until a technician sees it, because heat damages the boards.

Still showing E02?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
