What F14
actually means.

F14 means the drive detected over-current. Dexter's checks are whether the drum turns freely, whether the motor or bearings drag, whether the motor leads short, and whether the braking resistors read correctly.

What to do when F14 shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Dexter's own guidance for F14 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Write down the drive light code before powering off.

02

Power down for three minutes and try one cycle with a normal load.

03

Book a visit if F14 returns; turning the drum by hand and testing the motor happen with power locked out.

Still there?

It usually turns into commercial laundry machine repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

F14 is not an overload of laundry alone, although a stuffed drum adds strain. F17 is the drive's separate overload message.

Where F14 usually leads

Commercial laundry machine repair.

Laundry machine door lock, belt, bearings and seal, drain valve, inverter or motor; tumbler igniter, flame sensor, gas valve coil or airflow switch · moderate.

Questions
about F14.

Can I clear F14 myself?
Write down the drive light code before powering off. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can worn bearings cause F14 on a Dexter?
Yes. A drum that drags makes the motor draw more current.
Is F14 on a Dexter a wiring problem?
It can be. Shorted motor leads are one cause Dexter lists.
Does F14 damage a Dexter drive?
The code stops the machine to protect it; resetting without finding the cause only brings it back.

Still showing F14?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
