What 029
actually means.

The LXn stops its pumps when the door opens mid-cycle and shows Program interrupted. Close door with 029. Once the door is fully closed and seated, the interrupted step resumes. A related message, 039, covers a door opened during the fill.

What to do when 029 shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Hobart's own guidance for 029 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Close the door fully and check that it is seated all the way.

02

Wait for the cycle to resume on its own.

03

If a dish must be added mid-cycle, open the door slowly and wait about 10 seconds for the wash arms to stop.

04

Book a visit if 029 shows with the door closed, because the door switch may need attention.

Cleared?

The code is gone from the controller, the box pulls down to its set point and holds it, the vat or the cavity reaches temperature and recovers on schedule, the rinse hits its heat and the drum finishes its spin, all without a new part. If the same code comes back within a week, or during the next busy shift, mention it when you book.

What not to do

029 is not a door that will not seal or a leak at the door. A 029 that appears with nobody touching the door is the only version that needs a technician.

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Nothing on the unit has broken; the controller is reporting a state it chose or one somebody set. A defrost pauses cooling for a scheduled melt and shows a warmer air reading for a while, a combi asks for a delime or runs its clean cycle and locks the door until it ends, a dish machine or a laundry machine sits in energy save between busy periods, and a door-open reminder beeps after a long delivery. No part is needed: letting the cycle finish, or the key sequence in the manual, brings the unit back.

Questions
about 029.

Can I clear 029 myself?
Close the door fully and check that it is seated all the way.
Is it safe to open a Hobart undercounter mid-cycle?
Hobart says to open it slowly until the pump stops and wait about 10 seconds before opening fully. Opening quickly lets hot water splash out.
Why does my Hobart show 029 with the door shut?
The door switch is not reading the door as closed. A door out of line with its latch or a failed switch are the usual causes.
Do I have to restart the cycle after 029?
No. Once the door is closed and seated, the operation that was interrupted continues.

Back to your everyday

Still showing 029?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
