What 080
actually means.
The LXn schedules deliming from its water hardness setting and use, and prompts with Delime Required. Start Delime Cycle? When that prompt is declined ten times and the lockout is on, the machine locks with 080. Running a delime cycle resets the reminder.

What to do when 080 shows on the commercial applianceKind of codeMode, not a failure
Nothing on the unit has broken; the controller is reporting a state it chose or one somebody set. A defrost pauses cooling for a scheduled melt and shows a warmer air reading for a while, a combi asks for a delime or runs its clean cycle and locks the door until it ends, a dish machine or a laundry machine sits in energy save between busy periods, and a door-open reminder beeps after a long delivery. No part is needed: letting the cycle finish, or the key sequence in the manual, brings the unit back.

A commercial appliance error code appears as letters or numbers on a combi, fryer, reach-in controller, dish machine or laundry machine display, or as a flashing light or an alarm tone.

A Hobart dish machine that stops holding its rinse heat is usually seen right after the lunch racks clear, so the tank can drain and cool.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Hobart's own guidance for 080 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Press ENTER and start a delime cycle as described in the manual.
Use a deliming agent your chemical supplier approves for the machine.
On LXnR and LXGnR models, check the delime container, since those machines pump the agent in themselves.
Book a visit if the reminder comes back unusually fast, because the water hardness setting may be wrong.
Cleared?
The code is gone from the controller, the box pulls down to its set point and holds it, the vat or the cavity reaches temperature and recovers on schedule, the rinse hits its heat and the drum finishes its spin, all without a new part. If the same code comes back within a week, or during the next busy shift, mention it when you book.
What not to do
080 is not a failure; it is a maintenance lockout the kitchen can clear. Scale left in place, however, is what leads to slow heating codes such as 003 and 070.

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
