What to do when Service 40 shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Rational's own guidance for Service 40 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Look at the care product container or cartridge and swap it when it is empty or close to it.

02

Make sure the suction line sits properly in the container and is not kinked.

03

If the container is full and Service 40 keeps appearing, book a visit to have the dosing checked.

Still there?

It usually turns into dish machine repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

Service 40 is not a water supply problem; low water during cleaning is Service 25. It also does not mean the steam generator is already scaled, though running without care liquid for long makes that more likely.

Where Service 40 usually leads

Dish machine repair.

Dish machine tank heater or booster element, thermostat, fill valve, float switch, drain valve, wash pump seal or motor, conveyor drive · moderate.

In Rational's own words

The quantity of care liquid required by the iCareSystem is too low.

Questions
about Service 40.

Can I clear Service 40 myself?
Look at the care product container or cartridge and swap it when it is empty or close to it. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can I cook on a Rational with Service 40?
Yes. Rational lists cooking as possible; top up or swap the care product so the steam generator stays protected.
Why does Service 40 appear with a full care container on my Rational?
The liquid may not be reaching the oven, for example through a kinked or loose suction line. If the line looks fine, the dosing pump needs a technician.
What happens if I ignore Service 40 on a Rational?
The steam generator loses its scale protection. Watch the care status indicator; red means heavy limescale buildup.

Still showing Service 40?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
