What LO
actually means.

On Carel and Danfoss controls fitted by True, LO or Lo is the low temperature alarm. The return-air probe reads colder than the low limit stored in the control. In a cooler that can mean lettuce, dairy and sauces start to freeze near the coil.

What to do when LO shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from True Residential's own guidance for LO on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Look at the set point on the display and compare it with the temperature your menu needs.

02

Check product near the air outlet for ice crystals and move anything that is freezing to a shelf farther from the coil.

03

Note whether a large load of frozen product went in recently; that can pull the cabinet down for a while.

04

If LO returns with a normal set point and no frozen load, book a visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into reach-in and prep table repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

LO is not a sign the cooling system is weak; it is the opposite problem. On a Dixell control the same kind of alarm reads LA, and on LAE controls it reads Lo.

Where LO usually leads

Reach-in and prep table repair.

Reach-in, pass-through or prep table gasket, hinge, fan motor, thermostat or controller, defrost heater, leak repair or compressor · moderate.

Questions
about LO.

Can I clear LO myself?
Look at the set point on the display and compare it with the temperature your menu needs. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why is my True cooler showing LO when the set point looks right?
The probe may be reading colder air than the rest of the box, or the control may not be switching the compressor off in time. Both need a meter and a second thermometer, so book a visit if it keeps happening.
Can a cold kitchen cause LO on a True?
A very cold room can slow the cabinet's own warming between cycles, and a unit placed near an open back door in winter sees that. Move it or shield it if you can and watch whether LO stops.
Will LO hurt the food in my True cabinet?
Produce and dairy can freeze and lose quality even though they stay safe. Check the items nearest the coil first.

Still showing LO?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
