actually means.
Hatco electric boosters supply the 180°F final rinse water for dish machines, and their control panel has one error light with two meanings. Flashing points to a defective probe or a low water error; solid means the high temperature limit tripped. The power switch doubles as the reset for the high limit.

Water is not arriving, not reaching its level, not heating or not leaving on time. A dish machine may be short of fill because a supply valve is half closed or its line strainer is clogged, it may drain slowly through a scrap basket full of debris, or its booster may be too scaled to heat the rinse; a combi's steam generator may be scaled or its water treatment exhausted; a washer-extractor may time out on a slow drain. Opening the supply valve, cleaning strainers with the unit off and checking the drain line are fair; a pump, a fill valve, a heater or a leak near wiring is a visit.

Note whether the light is flashing or solid before doing anything else.
For a solid light, turn the power switch off and on to reset the high limit once; a second trip means the booster waits for a technician.
For a flashing light, confirm the water valve feeding the booster and dish machine is open; never let the booster heat without water, since its elements burn out in seconds when dry.
Continued flashing with water available points to the probe or the low water circuit; book a visit.

The error light is not the power light, which only shows that the booster is on. Nor does it report the rinse temperature; read the dish machine gauge for that.
