A row of three stainless steel reach-in cabinets with solid doors along the wall of a working restaurant kitchen, the reach-ins clearly the subject, one door open showing sheet pans of prepped vegetables on wire shelves, a walk-in cooler door with a clear strip curtain visible at the far end, a cook seen only from behind in a white jacket passing in the soft background, bright even kitchen light.

Hatco
Restaurant Equipment Repair

Hatco equipment is often checked in the gap between breakfast and lunch, when the station it serves can do without it for a short while.

Hatco commercial appliances,
specifically.

Hatco makes the equipment that keeps food hot, toasted and ready and the booster heaters that make dish machines sanitize: Glo-Ray warmers, Flav-R-Savor holding cabinets, Toast-Qwik conveyor toasters, Rapide Cuisine induction, booster water heaters and refrigerated drop-in wells. Hatco calls tend to be small units with big consequences, like a holding cabinet that went blind before lunch or a booster that stopped reaching rinse temperature before an inspection.

The Hatco lineup

What is particular
to Hatco.

We work on Hatco Flav-R-Savor holding and display cabinets, Toast-Qwik and Intelligent Toast-Qwik conveyor toasters, Rapide Cuisine induction units, Glo-Ray warmers, Imperial, Compact and Powermite booster water heaters, and refrigerated drop-in cold wells.

Boosters make the rinse legal

Hatco boosters raise dish machine rinse water to 180°F, the temperature hot-water machines rely on to sanitize. One error light on the panel means two things, flashing for a probe or low water and solid for a tripped high limit.

Humidity is part of holding

Flav-R-Savor cabinets hold food with warm air and moisture from a water reservoir. Hatco suggests distilled water, warns against deionized water, and even gives a salt trick for low water probes that cannot sense distilled water.

Toasters that talk in words

Touchscreen Toast-Qwik and Intelligent Toast-Qwik toasters spell out their messages, from Heating Error to Clean Fan Filters, and some updates load from a USB drive. A photo of the screen tells us what to bring.

Cold wells run on R-290

Hatco also sells self-contained refrigerated drop-in wells using R-290 as well as remote models. Those units get the same sealed-system care as any other cold equipment.

Parts

Elements, probes, fans, touch controls and booster thermostats are looked up from the Hatco data plate first. Toaster fan filters and product sensor parts are good spares to keep.

Repair or replace

Hatco equipment is mostly simple and repairable, so a failed element, probe, fan or control is usually worth replacing. A booster with a leaking tank or a warmer with a damaged housing is where replacement becomes the practical answer.

Questions about
Hatco commercial appliances.

Why is my Hatco booster light flashing?
Hatco says a flashing error light means a defective probe or low water. Make sure water reaches the booster before it heats, then book a visit if it keeps flashing.
What water should I use in a Hatco holding cabinet?
Hatco recommends distilled water to protect parts, warns against deionized water, and says tap water means regular deliming of the reservoir.
Can I update a Hatco toaster myself?
Touchscreen Toast-Qwik models load new software from a USB drive using Hatco's steps. If the update does not clear a message, the control needs a technician.
Does Hatco make cold equipment?
Yes. It sells refrigerated drop-in wells, some self-contained with R-290 and some remote, for salad bars and serving lines.
