What E7
actually means.

HPR prep tables carry a condenser thermistor to catch a dirty condenser or filter. When it reads above its limit for more than two minutes, the display shows E7. Hoshizaki warns that ignoring it can damage the compressor, and the alarm resets once the condenser cools after cleaning.

What to do when E7 shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Hoshizaki's own guidance for E7 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Wash the condenser air filter and clear anything blocking the grille or the space around it.

02

Make sure the table is not drawing hot air from a fryer, oven or charbroiler beside it.

03

Restart the table and watch whether E7 returns once the compressor runs.

04

Book a visit if E7 comes back after cleaning, since the condenser fan motor may not be turning.

Still there?

It usually turns into walk-in cooler repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E7 is not a cabinet temperature alarm, although a hot condenser soon leads to a warm cabinet. It is also different from E9, which reports a failed condenser sensor rather than a hot condenser.

Where E7 usually leads

Walk-in cooler repair.

Walk-in evaporator fan, defrost heater or drain line heater, door gasket, frame heater, expansion valve, leak repair, compressor or condensing unit · moderate to highest.

Questions
about E7.

Can I clear E7 myself?
Wash the condenser air filter and clear anything blocking the grille or the space around it. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
How often should the HPR condenser filter be cleaned?
Hoshizaki asks for a check twice a month and a cleaning whenever it is dirty. Kitchens with fryers nearby usually need it more often.
Will restarting the HPR clear E7?
It can clear the display without fixing anything. Hoshizaki notes the alarm repeats once the condenser heats up again, so clean the filter before restarting.
Can I keep using the HPR while E7 is showing?
Hoshizaki warns that ignoring E7 can damage the compressor. Clean the filter, and if E7 returns, move food elsewhere and book a visit.

Still showing E7?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
