What Lo
actually means.

Lo is the mirror of Hi: the cabinet has been colder than its low limit for over two hours. In a cooler that is cold enough to freeze produce, dairy and sauces. The code resets itself once the temperature returns to normal, and the alarm icon stays lit.

What to do when Lo shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Hoshizaki's own guidance for Lo on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check the setpoint on the display and correct it if someone has lowered it.

02

Move lettuce, eggs and liquids away from the air outlet at the back of the cabinet.

03

Silence the beep with the upper button and log the reading.

04

Book a visit if Lo returns with a normal setpoint, since a sensor or the control may be misreading.

What not to do

Lo does not mean a warm cabinet has recovered; the box is genuinely colder than its setting allows. On Steelheart prep tables and equipment stands the low limit is 20°F rather than 26°F.

Questions
about Lo.

Can I clear Lo myself?
Check the setpoint on the display and correct it if someone has lowered it. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What makes a Hoshizaki cooler run too cold?
A setpoint lowered on the display is the most common cause. When the setpoint is right, a sensor reading warmer than the air or a control holding the compressor on comes next, and both need a technician.
How far should I change a Hoshizaki setpoint at once?
Hoshizaki asks for no more than 2°F per change and at least eight hours for the cabinet to settle before the next one. Big jumps are how a cooler ends up in Lo.
Will Lo damage food in my Hoshizaki reach-in?
It can freeze produce, eggs and dairy, especially near the air outlet. Check those items first and move them to a shelf farther from the fan.

Still showing Lo?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
