What Hi
actually means.

The control raises Hi once a cooler cabinet has sat above 57°F, or a freezing cabinet above 26°F, for more than two hours. Hoshizaki's first checks are the doors, the air filter and the condenser. The code clears itself when the temperature comes back into range, but the alarm icon stays lit so the next shift can see it happened.

What to do when Hi shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Hoshizaki's own guidance for Hi on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check product with a probe thermometer and move anything above 41°F in a cooler to a working unit, following your health code on discard.

02

Close every door and make sure no box or sheet pan blocks the air inside the cabinet.

03

Wash the condenser air filter in warm water with a neutral cleaner if it is dusty.

04

Silence the beep with the upper button, log the time and reading, and book a visit if the display does not start falling within an hour.

Still there?

It usually turns into reach-in and prep table repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

Hi can also appear at start-up on a cabinet that was plugged in warm, and it clears once the cabinet pulls down. It is not UHi, which is a supply voltage warning on Steelheart prep tables.

Where Hi usually leads

Questions
about Hi.

Can I clear Hi myself?
Check product with a probe thermometer and move anything above 41°F in a cooler to a working unit, following your health code on discard. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Is food safe when a Hoshizaki cabinet shows Hi?
Not necessarily. Hi appears only after two hours above the limit, so check each item with a thermometer and follow your health code for anything held above 41°F.
Why does Hi keep coming back on my Hoshizaki during lunch?
Doors opened constantly, a clogged air filter and a dirty condenser are the causes Hoshizaki lists before a service call. If the cabinet stays warm with clean filters and closed doors, the cooling system needs a technician.
Does Hi on a Hoshizaki clear by itself?
Yes, once the cabinet returns to normal temperature. The alarm icon stays lit afterward, which is a prompt to write the event in your temperature log.

Still showing Hi?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
