What UHi
actually means.

Steelheart prep tables with raised rails and the refrigerated equipment stands watch their own supply. At roughly 135 volts or more the display shows UHi and the compressor is de-energized. The safety resets itself once the voltage is back in range.

What to do when UHi shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Hoshizaki's own guidance for UHi on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Note whether lights or other equipment on the same circuit are acting unusually.

02

Keep the lids and drawers closed, and move rail pans to another cold unit if they warm above 41°F.

03

Have an electrician or the utility measure the voltage at the outlet.

04

Book a visit if UHi keeps appearing while the outlet measures normal.

Still there?

It usually turns into commercial controls and board repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

UHi is not a warm-cabinet alarm, although the rail warms if the compressor stays off for long. It is not Hi either, which reports temperature rather than voltage.

Where UHi usually leads

Commercial controls and board repair.

Controller, touch panel, probe or sensor, relay, contactor, power supply, door switch or interlock, tested before anything is changed · moderate.

Questions
about UHi.

Can I clear UHi myself?
Note whether lights or other equipment on the same circuit are acting unusually. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Is UHi a problem with my Hoshizaki prep table or the building?
Usually the building supply or the circuit. A control that reports UHi while the outlet measures normal is the exception, and that one needs a technician.
Why does my Hoshizaki prep table show UHi late in the evening?
Supply voltage can rise when other loads in the building switch off. If UHi lines up with closing time, have the outlet measured at that hour.
Does UHi clear on its own?
Yes. Hoshizaki says the voltage safeties reset automatically once the voltage is corrected, and the compressor then restarts.

Still showing UHi?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
