What dor
actually means.

On Steelheart upright reach-ins the control flashes dor with the alarm icon once a door has been open past two minutes. A failed door switch gives the same three letters, so dor can appear on a door that is plainly shut. The control beeps for ten seconds out of every minute until someone silences it.

What to do when dor shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Hoshizaki's own guidance for dor on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Close every door on the cabinet firmly and watch whether dor clears.

02

Look for a pan handle, a sheet tray or a shelf edge holding a door off its gasket.

03

Press and release the upper button to silence the beep while you check.

04

When dor comes back with every door latched, the switch is suspect, and that is a visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into reach-in and prep table repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

dor reports a door, not a temperature, though a door propped open through a rush can turn into Hi two hours later. The Commercial S-Series uprights and the Steelheart prep tables have no dor line in their alarm tables, so a beep on those cabinets points to another code.

Where dor usually leads

Reach-in and prep table repair.

Reach-in, pass-through or prep table gasket, hinge, fan motor, thermostat or controller, defrost heater, leak repair or compressor · moderate.

Questions
about dor.

Can I clear dor myself?
Close every door on the cabinet firmly and watch whether dor clears. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Hoshizaki reach-in show dor with the door closed?
The door switch still reads that door as open. A door that has dropped out of line with its switch, or a switch that has failed, produces the same dor as an open door, and only a test of the switch tells the two apart.
How do I stop the dor beep on a Steelheart?
Press and release the upper button to silence it. Closing the door properly is what clears the code, so find what is holding it open before you walk away.
Can dor on a Hoshizaki cabinet spoil food?
Not by itself; it warns that cold air is escaping. Check the cabinet temperature on the display, and if product climbs above 41°F, move it to a working unit and log the reading.

Still showing dor?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
