What E7
actually means.

The VC5 ignition board lights the burner and proves the flame before it signals the control. E7 appears when that signal never arrives. Vulcan's list includes the gas supply or gas valve, the igniter and its spark gap, the flame sensor, the ignition board, the control board and an open high limit.

What to do when E7 shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Vulcan's own guidance for E7 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Confirm the oven's gas shutoff is open and that the burners on neighboring gas equipment still light.

02

Turn the oven off for five minutes before trying again.

03

Try one restart; if E7 returns, leave the oven off.

04

Book a visit and do not open gas fittings or panels to look at the igniter.

What not to do

E7 is not a cavity probe problem, and the display is still reading temperature correctly. It is also different from E3, which catches a burner that may be lit but is not warming the oven.

Questions
about E7.

Can I clear E7 myself?
Confirm the oven's gas shutoff is open and that the burners on neighboring gas equipment still light. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Is E7 on a Vulcan oven a gas problem?
Often. A closed valve or low supply is the first thing Vulcan lists, followed by the igniter, flame sensor and boards.
How many times can I restart a Vulcan oven after E7?
Once, after five minutes off, which is what Vulcan asks after a failed lighting. If E7 comes back, leave the oven for the technician.
Can a tripped high limit cause E7 on a Vulcan?
Yes, Vulcan lists an open high limit. It usually trips for a reason, such as a fan that stopped, so the technician looks for that too.

Still showing E7?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
