The open door of a cold stainless combi oven in a commercial kitchen, its empty racks in view and a thin core temperature probe hanging on its holder inside the cavity, nobody at the combi oven.

What E32
actually means.

Probe-controlled cooks on the ChefsCombi rely on the core probe sitting in the food. When the oven cannot see it in the product, it shows E32 and asks for the probe to be inserted as soon as possible. A related message, E33, means the probe went in but in the wrong spot.

What to do when E32 shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Vulcan's own guidance for E32 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Open the door carefully, standing back from the steam.

02

Push the core probe into the thickest part of the product, away from bone and the pan.

03

Close the door and check that the display now reads a core temperature.

04

Book a visit if E32 appears with the probe clearly in the food, since the probe may be damaged.

Still there?

It usually turns into commercial controls and board repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E32 is not a failed probe; E31 and E93 report probe damage. It is a prompt to the cook, and it clears once the probe is placed correctly.

Questions
about E32.

Can I clear E32 myself?
Open the door carefully, standing back from the steam. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Vulcan ChefsCombi say the probe is not inserted?
The oven reads the probe as sitting in air rather than food. Push it deeper into the thickest part of the product.
What is the difference between E32 and E33 on a ChefsCombi?
E32 means the probe is not in the product at all; E33 means it is in, but not in a thick, even part.
Can a bent probe cause E32 on a Vulcan combi?
It can confuse the reading. If the probe is visibly bent or its cable is cut, stop using it and book a visit.

Still showing E32?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
