What to do when E47 shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Garland's own guidance for E47 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Stop loading product and let the plate cool.

02

Lower the setpoint if the griddle has been running at maximum with little on it.

03

Keep product on the plate, or turn the setting down during slow periods.

04

Book a visit if E47 appears at normal settings with product on the plate.

Still there?

It usually turns into reach-in and prep table repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E47 is not a failed sensor; that is E22 on griddles. It is also different from E29, which Garland uses for generator and wiring problems.

Questions
about E47.

Can I clear E47 myself?
Stop loading product and let the plate cool. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Garland griddle show E47 between orders?
An empty plate at a high setting heats quickly with nothing to absorb it. Lowering the setting between rushes avoids it.
Is E47 on a Garland griddle a fire risk?
Grease on an overheated plate can smoke or flash. Let it cool, and use the kitchen's Class K extinguisher as trained if anything ignites.
Does E47 mean the Garland thermostat has failed?
Not at first. If it keeps appearing at normal settings with product on the plate, a technician should check the temperature control.

Still showing E47?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
