The open door of a cold stainless combi oven in a commercial kitchen, its empty racks in view and a thin core temperature probe hanging on its holder inside the cavity, nobody at the combi oven.

Victory rE: the control probe is faulty or disconnected

rE, log code 12, is the most serious of the probe messages because it concerns the control probe itself.

What rE
actually means.

rE, log code 12, is the most serious of the probe messages because it concerns the control probe itself. Victory's table says the compressor then runs in its duty setting mode: on and off on a fixed timing instead of on temperature. The cabinet can drift warm or cold.

What to do when rE shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Victory's own guidance for rE on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check food temperatures with your own thermometer every hour and log them.

02

Move food that must stay cold if the cabinet drifts warm.

03

Book a visit the same day and mention rE.

Still there?

It usually turns into commercial controls and board repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

rE is not the same as E1 to E7, which report individual probes without taking over the compressor. The alarm lights, trips the relay and sounds the buzzer.

Where rE usually leads

Commercial controls and board repair.

Controller, touch panel, probe or sensor, relay, contactor, power supply, door switch or interlock, tested before anything is changed · moderate.

Questions
about rE.

Can I clear rE myself?
Check food temperatures with your own thermometer every hour and log them. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can my Victory keep cooling with rE?
Yes, in duty setting mode: the compressor runs on a set timing. The temperature is no longer controlled closely, so watch the food.
Why is my Victory too cold after rE appeared?
Duty setting mode does not follow the cabinet temperature, so it can overcool or undercool.
Is rE caused by the Carel control itself on a Victory?
Usually it is the probe or its connection. The technician checks both before replacing anything.

Still showing rE?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
