What E41
actually means.

Before it drains a vat, the FQ4000 wants an empty filter pan. If a previous filtration did not return all the oil, or a drain was opened manually, the controller logs E41 and asks the operator to deal with the pan. Draining another full vat into a pan that already holds oil could overflow it.

What to do when E41 shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Frymaster's own guidance for E41 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Follow the prompts on the controller; it will ask whether the pan is empty or offer to return the oil to the vat.

02

If you check the pan by eye, wait for it to cool and use heat-resistant gloves; never push a full, hot pan back and forth.

03

If the pan is empty and E41 still appears, the pan sensing and the return side of the filter system need a technician; book a visit.

What not to do

E41 does not mean the fryer is leaking; it is a guard against overfilling the pan. If oil actually appears under the fryer, treat it as a spill, keep people clear and book a visit.

Questions
about E41.

Can I clear E41 myself?
Follow the prompts on the controller; it will ask whether the pan is empty or offer to return the oil to the vat. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Frymaster say oil is in the pan when it is empty?
The controller works from what the last filtration reported, not from a look into the pan. If the pan is truly empty, answering the prompt usually clears it; a repeat means the sensing needs testing.
Can E41 on a Frymaster lead to a spill?
The error exists to prevent one. Draining a full vat on top of oil already in the pan is how pans overflow, so the fryer stops and asks first.
What happens to auto filtration after E41 on a Frymaster?
It waits until the pan question is answered. Several incomplete filtrations in a row lead to SERVICE REQUIRED and disabled filtering.

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
