What E-26
actually means.

On the electric PFE models the control watches element current. If current flows while heat should be off, a contactor or the board is stuck, and the fryer shows E-26. Henny Penny warns it can appear even with the power switch off, so the switch alone may not stop the heat.

What to do when E-26 shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Henny Penny's own guidance for E-26 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Unplug the fryer or switch off its circuit breaker from a dry panel; the power switch alone may not stop the elements.

02

Keep watch on the oil and keep the Class K extinguisher at hand until it cools; if there is smoke or flame, use the suppression system and call 911.

03

Book a visit so the contactors and the control board can be checked before the fryer is used again.

What not to do

E-26 is heat locked on, which is more serious than current reading high (E-25) or low (E-27). It is not an oil overheat reading, though it can lead to one.

Questions
about E-26.

Can I clear E-26 myself?
Unplug the fryer or switch off its circuit breaker from a dry panel; the power switch alone may not stop the elements. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does a Henny Penny show E-26 with the switch off?
A contactor that has welded closed feeds the elements directly, bypassing the switch. That is why Henny Penny says to unplug it or turn off the breaker.
Is E-26 an emergency on a Henny Penny?
Treat it as one. Heat that cannot be switched off can drive the oil toward its smoke point, so cut the power at the breaker and watch the vat.
What gets replaced after E-26?
Usually a contactor, sometimes the control board. A technician checks both before the fryer goes back into service.

Back to your everyday

Still showing E-26?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
