What E-15
actually means.

The control will not heat with the drain open, because the elements or burners could fire into an empty vat. A microswitch on the drain valve tells the board the handle position; if the handle is closed and E-15 stays, the switch is suspect.

What to do when E-15 shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Henny Penny's own guidance for E-15 on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Close the drain using the drain valve handle, keeping hands clear of hot oil.

02

Check the handle is fully home; a half-closed handle can leave the switch open.

03

If E-15 stays with the valve closed, book a visit so the drain microswitch can be checked; Info Mode can show its status.

It usually turns into commercial controls and board repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E-15 is about the drain handle and its switch, not about the oil level. A low-oil condition on fryers with the oil sensing option shows E-1 instead.

Questions
about E-15.

Can I clear E-15 myself?
Close the drain using the drain valve handle, keeping hands clear of hot oil. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Henny Penny show E-15 right after filtering?
The drain handle is often left slightly open after the filter cycle. Close it fully and the code should clear; if it does not, the drain switch may be out of adjustment.
Can I bypass the drain switch on a Henny Penny?
No. The switch stops the fryer heating an empty vat, and a bypassed switch is a fire risk; a technician can adjust or replace it.
Does E-15 mean the Henny Penny drain is blocked?
No. E-15 reports the valve position, not the flow. A clogged drain is cleared with the cleaning rod, and the fryer shows no code for it.

Back to your everyday

Still showing E-15?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
