What E-6B
actually means.

A probe that has shorted, or wiring rubbed through against the vat, sends the control a reading it cannot trust. The PFE and PFG controls show E-6B and stop heating until the probe is checked.

What to do when E-6B shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Henny Penny's own guidance for E-6B on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Silence the alarm, turn the fryer off and on again once as the manual allows.

02

Keep the fryer out of service if E-6B returns, and move the menu to another fryer.

03

Book a visit so the probe, its lead and the connector at the board can be tested.

What not to do

E-6B is a shorted probe, the opposite reading to E-6A. It does not say the oil is actually too hot; that condition shows as E-5.

Questions
about E-6B.

Can I clear E-6B myself?
Silence the alarm, turn the fryer off and on again once as the manual allows. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What causes E-6B on a Henny Penny pressure fryer?
The probe itself or its wiring is reading as a short, often after the lead is pinched or cooked through near the vat. The control cannot hold temperature with that reading.
Should we filter or change oil when E-6B appears?
Oil condition does not cause E-6B. Leave the oil as it is and keep the fryer off until the probe circuit has been tested.
Can E-6B on a Henny Penny damage the fryer?
The control stops heating, which protects the vat. The risk is downtime rather than damage, so book the repair before the next busy shift.

Still showing E-6B?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
