What E-6A
actually means.

The fryer needs the probe reading to decide when to heat. When the circuit reads open, as with a broken probe or a loose connection, the control shows E-6A and will not run a normal cook cycle.

What to do when E-6A shows on the commercial appliance

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Henny Penny's own guidance for E-6A on its commercial appliances. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Silence the alarm, switch the fryer off and back on as Henny Penny directs.

02

Write down whether the code came on at start-up or partway through a cook, which helps the technician.

03

If E-6A returns, stop using the fryer and book a visit for the probe and its wiring.

Still there?

It usually turns into commercial controls and board repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E-6A is an open circuit, while the shorted version of the same probe shows E-6B. Neither one is about the high-limit thermostat, which reports as E-10.

Questions
about E-6A.

Can I clear E-6A myself?
Silence the alarm, switch the fryer off and back on as Henny Penny directs. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can a Henny Penny pressure fryer run with E-6A showing?
No. Without a probe signal the control cannot hold oil temperature, so the fryer should stay off until the probe is tested.
Why does E-6A come and go on my Henny Penny?
An intermittent open usually means a cracked probe lead or a connector that loosens as the fryer heats and cools. A technician can check the probe resistance and the plug together.
Is E-6A the same as E-6B on a Henny Penny?
They point to the same probe but opposite readings: A is open, B is shorted. The repair is often the same part, but the test result tells the technician which way it failed.

Back to your everyday

Still showing E-6A?

A booking with a code goes further when it has the code as shown, the model and serial from the data plate, and a word on whether the unit still holds temperature, heats, rinses or spins. With those three, the office can match the likely part to your unit the same day.
